About Philanthropy at Azim Premji Foundation

At the Foundation, we make multi-year grants to not-for-profit organizations that work with the most vulnerable in our society. Through such support, people who are deeply disadvantaged and marginalised are offered immediate care, access to essential services, and the possibility of a dignified future.

We invite candidates who:

1. Are passionate and have experience in working in the domain of water and allied projects focused on the poor and marginalised – drinking and domestic water, irrigation, water quality management, community institutions for water management, demand-side management, among others
2. Have strong operating experience in running water, natural resources management, rural livelihoods programs on the ground and have shouldered responsibility for effective delivery of results.
3. Identify emerging opportunities and organisations in the water sector,and contribute to shaping the Foundation's strategy and grant-making priorities.
4. Provide technical guidance to partner organisations on programme design, implementation approaches and institutional strengthening.
5. Synthesise field learning and evidence from the portfolio to inform the Foundation's understanding of effective approaches in the water sector.
6. Have a good understanding of government interventions and initiatives around water and other natural resources
7. Ideally have experience in grant making/management; fund raising experience is also welcome.
8. Have good knowledge of organisational and project management.
9. Should have made significant and long-lasting contributions in their area of specialization
10. Are willing to travel regularly and extensively for work, sometimes in remote and difficult areas
11. Have a Master’s degree; preference may be given qualifications in the natural resources management domains from leading academic institutions
12. Have a minimum work experience of 10-12 years in natural resources management or related areas; interested candidates with longer experience are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

1. Conduct scoping and programmatic due diligence of organisations.
2. Review all completed proposals to ensure that required information has been provided. Ensure that the story of the organisations come through clearly.
3. Dialogue with the partner organisation to understand effects of their engagement
4. Guide the organisations in budget preparation and support the finance team with budget review and financial due diligence where required.
5. Lead the grant making process for the assigned organisations and ensure compliance with the Foundation’s guidelines and requirements.
6. Manage the grant management process system through the entire lifecycle of a grant.
