Job Description

Resource Person – Vocational Education

The initiative's current work is concentrated in manufacturing trades. This role will build out a parallel stream of work in the services sector. The Resource Person will explore how vocational pathways into services work, from school level and post-Grade 12 options through to short (3/6/12-month) ITI-style programs.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Map the services sector job landscape in Karnataka most relevant to the initiative.
  2. Design possible program structures for services sector skilling, spanning school level exposure, post-Grade 12 options, and short-duration ITI-based programs.
  3. Initiate and lead discussions with the Department, including within a pilot institution to explore the services-sector opportunity inside the ITI system.
  4. Apply the initiative's sectoral mapping approach (industry/value-chain mapping, role identification, competency alignment, curriculum enhancement, investment planning) to services contexts.
  5. Build relationships with service-sector employers and industry bodies to understand real hiring needs, entry requirements, and potential placement or apprenticeship pathways.
  6. Contribute services-sector findings to the evolving Program Strategy document.

Required skills, Qualifications and Experience

  1. 3-5 years of experience working directly in the field.
  2. Working understanding of the skilling ecosystem — familiarity with government skilling programs, schemes, and delivery structures (e.g. DGT/NCVET, state skill missions, apprenticeship schemes), and the ability to identify where genuine opportunities exist for services sector pathways within them.
  3. Postgraduate qualification in any discipline, with deep, hands-on exposure to a specific sector; training experience within that sector is preferred.
  4. Comfort engaging with government departments and translating industry realities into program-design inputs
  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to train or facilitate sessions.
  6. Location – Bengaluru/Koppal. This role will require a lot of travel with and outside Karnataka.
